MTJ

About

We create corporate and education films and handle the entire process from development of ideas to writing, directing, filming, editing and encoding. We're proven and experienced yet flexible, imaginative and cost effective. Whether we're filming a single interview or producing a drama or documentary-style series, and whether the intention is to educate, entertain or motivate – usually all three - we really care about what we do, we work hard, offer a bright, enthusiastic, skilled and co-operative team and always go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy working with us and are happy with the results.

Team

Mari founded the company in 2004, having previously worked as a freelance director and producer. With a background in design and brand management, Mari is energetic, enthusiastic and an expert at making things happen - designing, developing, planning and organising. Before joining MTJ, Tim worked as a director and producer in the energy and environment sectors. He studied Geography at Oxford University and started his career in advertising. Tim is fascinated by all things technical and manages the editing and post-production side of the business. Kay regularly works as a producer with MTJ, she has a strong agency background in video and audio production and a particular passion for multi-lingual content. Justin, another regular producer and director, also develops and produces award-winning human rights documentaries. Our core team is supported by a committed team of broadcast-quality, freelance writer/directors, cameramen, sound recordists, editors, programmers and runners.

Facilities

We offer a full range of production and editing facilities at our offices in Oxford and are happy to organise local kit and crews for international production companies filming in Oxford.

News

May 09

It's been a varied month to say the least with shoots taking us all over the place from soap factories to pig farms! Also this month, we had a great time working with some cuting edge artists and musicians for a new series out in the Autumn.

Environment

The environment, sustainability and nature are the focus of many of our films, both education and corporate. We've made films on conservation, habitat regeneration, ecology, recycling, climate change, renewable energy, reforestation and ecological housing. We've filmed with charities like Oxfam and the RSPB and at key environmental projects like the Hockerton Housing Project, as well as exploring and recording environmental and sustainability issues with major, blue-chip corporations.

Science

Over the last five years we've created hundreds of video case studies for science education, featuring the people, places and stories at the cutting edge of science and technology. Demonstrating the relevance, importance and excitement of science to young people through real life applications allowed us to explore breakthrough stories in every aspect of the modern world.

We filmed hemp being used to build houses and cars, Olympic and Paralympic athletes pushing themselves to the limit, went to farms, recycling plants, factories and hospitals, tested zero-emission racing cars, saw forensic investigations, experienced what it’s like to live in an environmental housing community, heard the latest on attempting to break the world land speed record and even explored dark matter at the edges of the universe.

Corporate

We've created, written and produced films to be watched by governments, sales teams, shareholders, engineers, financial analysts, NGOs, customers, employees and many others. As individuals we've worked in communications and advertising roles for major corporations, like Ford Motor Company and Kraft Foods. We understand what works and what doesn't. We've filmed with companies like British Airways, Oxfam, Sainsbury's, Yeo Valley, Thorntons, BP, Ecotricity, Jaguar Land Rover, Norman Foster & Partners, Motorola, Halcrow Group and many more. Recently we worked with Impress, a metal packaging company to communicate the environmental benefits of metal packaging (no refrigeration, high recycled content), creating a short, voice-over led film to put their messages in a real life context.

Education

We make programmes for primary, secondary, ELT, teacher training, promos, ads and online teaching packages. We enjoy working with schools and young people and always make sure everyone involved has a great experience. Having worked in education for seven years we have a thorough understanding of and enthusiasm for the sector. We understand the time and cost pressures educational publishers are under and operate accordingly to create drama and documentary content across subjects ranging from primary literacy to A’level physics.
